What Does Success Require?

Earl Nightingale, in his famous speech entitled, The Strangest Secret, once defined success as:

“The progressive realization of a worthwhile goal.”

Some may say, “Take one step at a time.”

Others may add a twist and label it as, “Putting one foot in front of another.”

The words “determination“, “stubbornness“, “resolve“, or “will power” also come to mind.

No matter how you may slice the loaf and what word you may use they all point to a central theme – persistence.

Success requires persistence.

In this “from the bottom up” picture taken inside the Currituck Beach Lighthouse on our last trip to North Carolina:

Success required putting one foot in front of another, step by step.

Doing so eventually took us to the top.

I think we would all agree life is tough and has its share of moments that require us to “press on“.

What things do you aspire to or value that might require you to put one foot in front of another, despite temporary hardships, to obtain the “progressive realization of a worthwhile goal”?
