A package arrived for me last week.

Seeing the parcel near our front door, I honestly had to ask myself “<em>Did I order something online?” </em>

I did not recall doing so.

<p>A package arrived for me last week.</p>
<p>Seeing the parcel near our front door, I honestly had to ask myself “<em>Did I order something online?” </em></p>
<p>I did not recall doing so.</p>
<p>I retrieved the package, a gift (or should I say re-gift) from my younger brother, Brian.</p>
<p>Although the enclosed note did not actually state this, the message I derived from the contents spoke the following to me – <strong><span style="color: #800000;"><em>“There is a Superhero Inside of You!”</em></span></strong></p>
<p>The invitation to Superhero status was further reinforced later in the week with the neighborhood and community being inundated by many children dressed in costumes for <em>Candy Fest 2014</em>, otherwise known as Halloween.</p>
<p>A princess, inspired by <em>Frozen</em>, knocked on our door.</p>
<p>Her little sister clung to her Mom and was not into it at all!</p>
<p>Smiles broke out with the princess nabbing a few candy bars.</p>
<p>We doubled her up so little sister would not be slighted.</p>
<p>A young boy in a red-caped costume rang the doorbell and stuck out his hand waiting for me to deposit into his bag a chocolate delight or two.</p>
<p>He was invincible!</p>
<p>On a last minute run to replenish the candy inventory, traffic in town was slowed to a crawl to make sure the dozens of kids lurking the streets were safe.</p>
<p>As these kids paraded through town with their parents or older siblings, <strong><em><span style="color: #800000;">they were who they were dressed to be</span></em></strong>.</p>
<p>Nothing or no one could tell them otherwise.</p>
<p>I even got a FaceTime visit from my granddaughter, Naomi.</p>
<p><a href="http://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Minnie-Mouse.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-1751 aligncenter" src="http://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Minnie-Mouse.jpg" alt="Minnie Mouse" width="240" height="477" srcset="https://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Minnie-Mouse.jpg 240w, https://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Minnie-Mouse-201x400.jpg 201w, https://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Minnie-Mouse-82x162.jpg 82w" sizes="(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px" /></a></p>
<p>On the day she called, she was transformed into Minnie Mouse (with a mouthful of candy)!</p>
<p>Let’s rewind back to my surprise gift.</p>
<p>What the heck possessed my brother to send me such an “<em>interesting</em>” gift?</p>
<p>He alone has the answer.</p>
<p>However, my answer to the question slowly began to leak out.</p>
<p>When I was a kid, I believed what I heard and regularly subscribed to the notion that nothing, as in <em><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>NO THING</strong></span></em>, was impossible.</p>
<p>In many ways, I thought I “<em>could leap tall buildings with a single bound</em>”.</p>
<p>I was “<em>faster than a speeding bullet</em>”.</p>
<p>Since my name is Bruce, <em>as in Bruce Wayne</em>, the caped crusader and I were BFF’s!</p>
<p><span style="color: #800000;"><strong><em>In my heart of hearts, there literally was nothing I thought was impossible or insurmountable.</em></strong></span></p>
<p>Throw on the cape, actually or metaphorically, and the evil oppressors were about to meet their match.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #800000;"><em>What happens to us when the simplicity of childhood is replaced with the responsibility of being an adult?</em></span></strong></p>
<p>Our childlike faith is first diluted and then replaced by worry, fear, and seeing things through murky waters.</p>
<p>We tend to magnify the supposed realities before us instead of entertaining the possibilities which could exist if we simply allowed them to get beyond our security gate.</p>
<p>We are told<strong><span style="color: #800000;"> “<em>anything is possible if a person believes</em>”</span></strong>.</p>
<p>We are encouraged to <strong><span style="color: #800000;">“<em>become like little children</em>”</span></strong>.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #800000;"><em>What’s one to do? </em></span></strong></p>
<p>I am not saying we need to shirk our adult responsibilities.</p>
<p>I am saying we all need a dose of stepping back in time to see the Superhero inside and <strong><em><span style="color: #800000;">allowing what is POSSIBLE to eradicate the smoke screen of what appears to be IMPOSSIBLE!</span></em></strong></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="color: #800000;">“For with God nothing shall be impossible!” (Luke 1:37 KJV)</span></em></strong></p>
<p>It’s time to throw on the cape, assume the identity of your favorite Superhero (or Princess), and once again leap some tall buildings for the heck of it!</p>
<p><a href="http://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Batman-2-e1415064418262.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-1745 size-full" src="http://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Batman-2-e1415064418262.jpg" alt="Batman 2" width="480" height="640" srcset="https://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Batman-2-e1415064418262.jpg 480w, https://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Batman-2-e1415064418262-225x300.jpg 225w, https://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Batman-2-e1415064418262-300x400.jpg 300w, https://brucercross.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Batman-2-e1415064418262-82x109.jpg 82w" sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" /></a></p>
<p>You never know what surprises await you.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #800000;"><em>Growing up, did you have a favorite Superhero or like? </em></span></strong></p>
