T.G.I.F!
Four letters strung together.
Everyone knows what they mean.
Thank God it’s Friday!
Those four letters are the National Anthem of workers everywhere and the lament of the weekend warrior.
Translated, “the work week is over, I am outta here, and I get a brief respite from whatever it is I do the other five days of the week.”
Stop what you are doing.
NOW!
Check out this post-game interview with Apollos Hester, a young football player for East View High School in Austin, Texas.
It’s gone viral and it is just the shot you need, I need.
It’s time to jack up your Friday!
Let’s add some cayenne, chipotle, and jalapeno all wrapped up into one!
This interview demonstrates the power of words spoken with heart and conviction.
Here are a few sound bites for you to chew on and digest.
- “Sometimes in life you might start slow….it’s how you finish.”
- “All that it takes is an attitude to be successful…it will be hard…you’re going to have to fight for it.”
- “Believe you will be successful…no matter what the scoreboard might say…because if you put in the time….hard work…effort…it will pay off.”
- “Even if it doesn’t…give God the glory.”
- “Win or lose….we will be all right.”
- “It’s a mindset….you can do anything you want to do…never give up on your dreams.”
- “If you fall down….get up…just get up…others will help you…God will help you up.”
Here’s hoping this short clip launches you into your weekend and it gets off to a great start!

T.G.I.F!
The air is cool outside, escorted by stiff breeze.
It is a subtle reminder of what has been and what is to come. Out with the old and in with the new.
Life is brief.
We are told it is like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow.
For a brief moment or two assume the world in which we live contains only you and I, both card carrying members of the species labeled, “male”.
Before we leave the starting gate we realize our universe is already lacking color without the species labeled, “female”.
However, we decide to go with the flow!
Freedom isn’t found in a place you go, but in the person you become.” – Kary Oberrunner

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their lives never wither […]
Have you ever felt like your work day was a re-run of some old TV show you have seen dozens of times and really did not care to watch?
For whatever reason, mine started out that way until…
In each of our lives there are moments which we remember and appear to be frozen in time.
They are moments which are idyllic and picturesque as the peaceful waters of a serene shoreline.
Although we cannot summon to the present times gone by we can, via our memories, reflect on precious memories.
I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying.”

I’d like to share one final, “London 2014” post of our recent trip while some moments are still fresh on my mind.
Many you have commented back to me your appreciation for sharing these thoughts from “across the Pond” as well as including some of our pictures – it has been my privilege.
