A Choice

John Wooden was arguably one of the greatest basketball coaches, or any sports coach for that matter, of all-time.  He coached the UCLA Bruins to 10 NCAA championships in a 12 year period and a record 88 consecutive wins.

I would like to share a quote of his with you that has made a profound impact on my life.  It has stuck with me since I first came across it while listening to an audio program entitled No Regrets given by John Maxwell, a close personal friend of Coach Wooden and a mentor-by-book(s)-association of mine.

The quote appears in a book written by John Wooden and Steve Jamison entitled, The Essential Wooden: A Lifetime of Lessons on Leaders and Leadership.

None of us make choices that are 100% correct or “spot on” all of the time.

However, as you read and digest this nugget of truth, my hope and prayer is you will allow the process of making choices to open more doors for you than they close –as you choose well!

“There is A CHOICE you have to make, in everything you do.  So keep in mind that in the end, the choice you make – MAKES YOU.”

How can allowing words like this into your bloodstream help you in the process of making wise choices?

  1. That is really deep – I will be rolling this over and over meditating on the truth of that. And it is so true. We choose our spouse – that impacts the rest of our lives and who we become. Had I married anyone else I have no doubt I wouldn’t be the person I am today. My husband has always supported me in all I set out to do and has allowed me to be myself. Great quote.
